One of the most unique and often under utilized resources are children and old people. Both groups are honest in their judgments, sometimes painfully so, but their observations can open many new avenues of creativity. (and at last check, neither group charged for their "advice")
Observing or playing with children, (yours or anyone's), can also lead to artistic innovations and offer creative leaps in the artistic process. Children's play does not have judgment, it just is, and they just are. When you play with children, you remove the judgment from yourself. That in itself can be a breath of fresh air. (just how many kids can you cram into a bug?)
